Search JIRA & Confluence instantly from your Address Bar

Chrome lets you define custom “search engines” to search JIRA/ Wiki, using only a keyword in your URL bar.

Setup

Open Chrome and right-click the Address Bar. Select “Manage search engines”. Next, we will define two custom Site Search entries.

To search JIRA, click Add and enter:

  • “jira” for the Keyword.
  • “https://<your JIRA hostname>/secure/QuickSearch.jspa?searchString=%s” for the URL.

To search Confluence, click Add and enter:

  • “Wiki” in the Search Engine field.
  • “wiki” for the Keyword.
  • “https://<your JIRA hostname>/wiki/search?text=%s” for the URL.

Searching

To search just click on the URL bar and type the search keyword followed by the issue or phrase you’re searching for. For example, “jira SEC-811”.
