Hey! Want to be able to open JIRA issues or Wiki pages instantly, without needing to open a bookmark before you can search?
Chrome lets you define custom “search engines” to search JIRA/ Wiki, using only a keyword in your URL bar.
Setup
Open Chrome and right-click the Address Bar. Select “Manage search engines”. Next, we will define two custom Site Search entries.
To search JIRA, click Add and enter:
- “JIRA” in the Search Engine field.
- “jira” for the Keyword.
- “https://<your JIRA hostname>/secure/QuickSearch.jspa?searchString=%s” for the URL.
To search Confluence, click Add and enter:
- “Wiki” in the Search Engine field.
- “wiki” for the Keyword.
- “https://<your JIRA hostname>/wiki/search?text=%s” for the URL.
Searching
To search just click on the URL bar and type the search keyword followed by the issue or phrase you’re searching for. For example, “jira SEC-811”.

I’ve found the expected behaviour for confluence doesn’t return an expected response when you have basic rather than advanced search by default. In these cases the confluence string https:///dosearchsite.action?cql=siteSearch+~+
